Terms of Service
Last updated
These terms govern your use of the Occult API and this website. By creating an account or calling the API with a key issued to you, you agree to them.
1. Who these terms are with
The Occult API is operated by Yoga Panchang (“we”, “us”). “You” means the person or organisation holding the account.
2. The service
We provide a REST API that performs Vedic astrological calculations from astronomical ephemeris data. The API returns computed values and classical classifications. It does not provide advice, predictions written by a person, or professional consultation of any kind.
We may add, change or withdraw individual endpoints. Where an endpoint is withdrawn we will keep it functioning for existing integrations wherever we reasonably can, but we do not guarantee that any specific endpoint or response field remains available indefinitely.
3. Accounts and API keys
You must give accurate registration details and keep them current. You are responsible for everything done with a key issued to your account, including calls made by anyone who obtains it.
Keys are stored hashed and cannot be recovered after they are shown to you once. Keep them server-side; a key embedded in a mobile app, a browser bundle or a public repository is exposed. If a key leaks, revoke it from the Keys page immediately — credits spent before you revoke it are still spent.
One account per organisation. Do not resell, sublicense or share access with third parties as though it were their own account.
4. Credits, pricing and payment
Access is prepaid. You buy a pack of credits and one successful call consumes one credit. A request that fails — a validation error, or an error on our side — consumes nothing. Credits do not expire.
Prices are in Indian Rupees and shown exclusive of GST, which is added at the applicable rate at checkout. Payments are processed by Razorpay; we do not receive or store your card details. Credits are added to your balance once payment is confirmed.
Prices and pack contents may change. A change never alters a pack you have already bought: the credits granted are fixed at the moment of purchase.
See our Refund & Cancellation Policy for refunds.
5. Rate limits and availability
Keys carry a per-minute rate limit. Exceeding it returns HTTP 429 and consumes no credits. We may adjust limits to protect the service.
We do not currently offer a service level agreement. The API is provided on a reasonable-efforts basis and may be unavailable during maintenance or for reasons outside our control.
6. Accuracy of calculations
Calculations are performed with the Swiss Ephemeris and are intended to be astronomically accurate. Astrological interpretation, however, is not a settled discipline: classical sources disagree on method, and results vary legitimately with ayanamsa, house system, rising convention and regional reckoning. Where we expose such a choice, the choice is yours and the documentation states which default applies.
Output is provided for information. It is not advice — medical, financial, legal or otherwise — and must not be presented to your own users as such. You are responsible for how you present results in your product.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the API, other accounts, or the systems the API runs on;
- probe, scan or load-test the service without our written permission;
- use the API to build a substantially similar competing API, or to systematically extract its data set for redistribution;
- circumvent credit metering, rate limits or authentication;
- use the service in a way that breaks any applicable law, or to present astrological output as professional advice.
Building an end-user product on top of the API — an app, a website, an internal tool — is exactly what it is for and is not restricted by the above.
8. Intellectual property
The API, this site, the documentation and the underlying software remain ours. Nothing here transfers ownership. You may use the responses your calls return in your own product without restriction, including commercially.
The Swiss Ephemeris is the work of Astrodienst AG and is used under its own licence.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss arising from decisions made on the basis of API output.
Our total liability in connection with the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
10. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, or where we are required to by law. You may stop using the service at any time.
If we close your account for a reason other than a breach by you, we will refund the unused credits on it.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and material changes will be notified by email to the address on your account. Continuing to use the API after a change means you accept the updated terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts of Jaipur, Rajasthan have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
